Have you seen that on Facebook? I believe that it says something like…”It feels like January 74th. Or is it 73rd? Whatever it is…this weather is hormonal. It affects us in lots of ways doesn’t it? I tend to talk about the weather here because it contributes to moods and activity.

This year has kind of went by in a blur so far for us. We found out last fall that our daughter was having some physical problems so we have made several trips to St. Louis. That puts everything else on the back burner and that is definitely okay. We think that they have her on the right track now. We are so thankful for that and for the way that the Lord has directed our steps.

It’s supposed to snow a little, or sleet, and rain, tomorrow. In April. January 74th…you have been a long one.

I have been prepping for summer a bit. A pillow cover made from an old feed sack added a bit of warmth to this January weather. πŸ˜‰

If it feels like January 74th to you…just hang on. It will be August 87th before you know it.

Lol…that’s a golden oldie. This is how it feels when you go to the grocery store around the first of the month in our town. You feel like you are gonna fall to pieces…or pull your hair out.

It feels like everyone and their neighbor comes out of the hills and hollers for a month’s worth of sustenance. Lands a mercy. And you know what? I always forget…until I pull up there. Good gravy, that’s a packed parking lot!

So, my sweet daughter and I waded the crowd. First we made it down the chute at the front door, like a bunch of deranged cattle with carts. Then we rounded the corner to the goodie aisle. (You ALDI shoppers are catching my drift.) We refrained from spending much there…just picked up a swanky little wok spatula. Anyway…we made it out unscathed and even saw a good friend. It was a profitable trip…but downright crazy.

If you head to the store today…don’t fall to pieces. We need you to remain calm. Insanity is overrated. πŸ˜‰

A Little Talk With Jesus

Do you all sing that at your place of worship? It’s one of my favorites. Just a little talk with Jesus is so important isn’t it?

Have you been worried lately? I have. It’s my biggest fight. Life can be really hard. We have been dealing with more than one stressful situation for awhile now. It’s hard to not let worry become a constant companion, especially if you have anxiety issues. I love the verse in that old song that says “I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled with tears, but Jesus is a friend who watches day and night.”

As if we all don’t have enough on our minds…then we feel concern over things that happen across our country. It can be very overwhelming. Talking to the Lord, and listening for His still, small, voice…brings peace. When I was a little girl, my momma would sing a song in church that said, “The only real peace that I have, dear Lord, is in You.” He is the Prince of Peace in this troubled world.

Hang in there, Dirt Roaders. There are brighter days than these…up around the bend.

“I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care…”

And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.

Hold On

We have had some warm days lately, how about you? After the freezing temps…I have enjoyed it. Those sunny days seem to help you hold on for the hope of spring, huh?

I don’t mind winter too awful bad…but I do enjoy spring popping up around the corner. More time outside and more fresh air. I am always a little sad to see the cozy season go…but I like the hope of new growth.

Do things seem bleak and wintry for you right now? If they do…hold on. God is not far, far, away. He is right there…and He will help. This morning I was reading about those Hebrew boys in the furnace. The king was amazed that there appeared to be four in there, and one was like as the Son of God. Wow. Hold on friends…and don’t let go. It won’t be winter forever.

Hello sweet Dirt Roaders! How is life treating you? I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and are having a happy start to 2018. Whew! Can you believe it? Time flies!

We have been fighting off sinus germs here. It hasn’t been super fun. It’s also freeeeeeezing cold here in southern Missouri. I guess it is winter though, at least in our neck of the woods.

The Mr. braved the frosty weather and grilled steaks over the holiday. They were really good. A little taste of summer…in the heart of winter.

I found the quote above somewhere on the internet. I think it’s fitting for a blank page, how about you? “where no foot has been before…” God is like that. He beckons us to put down our fear and run to Him, as He guides. What better way to blaze the trail of a new year, than to follow the Leader?

Happy Thanksgiving

This is always a tough week for me. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, as far as the gatherings go. I love the meaning of Christmas…but the commercial side…flips my wig a little. Overwhelms me. Anyway…this is also the week that my sweet daddy went to be with Jesus, four years ago. But…even in that…there is a place for…happy Thanksgiving.

Today when I opened my verse of the day…this was it:

This is the verse that we chose to put on Dad’s stone. Coincidence? I think not. I think that God is so personal in our everyday lives that He parents us. All of us. We just have to listen with an open heart. “With all your heart.”

My parents were so young and crazy. We grew up together. That being said…I feel like I got the best of both of them. That makes me feel loved in a way that I cannot explain. Lord…I am so thankful for the intricate things that you do.

Last night we had Thanksgiving with our babies. We paused to give thanks, taking turns. I sat there and relished their words…but also their sweet faces. It’s always a bit vulnerable when your turn rolls around. I gave thanks for underserved grace, my husband, and then our children. Our kids will always be my greatest accomplishment on this earth. I do not take that lightly and I know that it was a gift given between the Almighty, my husband, and myself.

I hope that your Thanksgiving is full to the brim. I hope that you enjoy it “with all your heart.” I hope that you look at your kids, like my daddy was looking at me, in the photo above. Most of all though…I hope that you feel the presence of Jesus in every corner of your life. He is good to gently flood into a life like that.

Happy Thanksgiving, sweet Dirt Roaders,

Mercy and Grace

You guys are so good to stop by here when there isn’t even new stuff to read. My Dirt Roaders are full of mercy and grace. Don’t let anyone tell ya any different.

I am diffusing a bit of lemon and grapefruit today. The washer is chuggin’ away, doing it’s thing. I have so much laundry you guys. I have been sick with some sort of cold/flu thing and you know how that goes. My family is good to dish out the mercy and grace though. I am thankful for that.

My sweet MIL sent a cozy throw my way. Talk about grace. I’m not even keeping up on her son’s laundry and she sent me a prizey…as we call them. Isn’t it gorgeous? BHG at your local Walmart. She bought my SIL one too. We are a bit spoiled. A little more mercy and grace.

I saw this online somewhere recently. Are we guilty of not giving our bodies mercy and grace? Sure we are. How can we accept others, pass mercy and grace onto them, we we don’t even give it to ourselves? I want to do better about that.

I’m gonna leave you with this last little tidbit. The Bible talks about God loving us, like a mother with her nursing infant. That kind of love…is full to the brim with mercy and grace, isn’t it? Why do we sometimes, as believers, give into the idea that He doesn’t feel that way towards us? I know why. We believe the lies that the enemy whispers. We shouldn’t. God’s plans are for our good. He is the Master…of mercy and grace.

Good morning guys! It’s Thursday!!! My favorite!!! I thought that we would just chat it up a little today. Nothing specific in this post. That okay? Okay!

So…the fair is in our neck of the woods this week. The hottest time of the year. Lol! My Mister and our son went to the livestock show this week. They sent me the sweetest shot of our son and his buddy…heading for a funnel cake. I love this!!!

I did a little revamping this week. If you follow along on IG…some of this is old news. Anyway, I kept seeing these cloches in our storage area and they were calling my name. Vintage bread board, succulents, Currier and Ives, and cloches. You can’t go wrong. πŸ˜‰

I posted this to FB this week. It just jumped right out and slapped me. (Lord, please help me to be a cheerleader for those around me. I want to have a pure heart! Amen.) People often say that life is short…which is true…but life is such a gift. Wasting it on jealousy and petty things is just sad. I wanna be a rooter!!! You know…rooting folks on. I told a sweet, sweet, momma at church last night, that we were rooting for her. We are. Her baby girl is having some scary health complications and we are holding them up in prayer. That is real life. Genuine, heart to heart, stuff. I wanna live there. God is good, isn’t He? And the folks say…”All the time.”

I hope that Thursday treats you well. I hope that it feels like the beginning to your weekend. May you look around…and count your blessings…because life…is a gift.

Love from the Farmhouse,

p.s. Thanks for chattin’ it up with me!!! Leave me a comment! I love to read them!

Weekend Vibes

Holiday weekends are fun aren’t they? While we remember those that have given their lives to protect us…and our loved ones that have went on to Heaven…we usually gather with family. That is such a gift. I learn that more and more…the older I get. So weekend vibes feel alive and well today.

We have new babies on the farm, so with feeding them four times a day, our weekend vibe will be busy. We have a momma goat that totally would not feed her twins. Then another that only took one. Sooooo…we are striving to give these babies the best chance possible.

Whatever you guys do this weekend…may Jesus bless you and warm your heart. May you quietly look around and absorb the love of your family. That is one of my favorite things to do. I used to see my dad doing that. He would just be enjoying his family and sitting there with a little smile. My granddad was the same way. I have been blessed with good teachers.

Happy Memorial Day from the Farmhouse.
