Here we are again. A new year. New goals. New beginnings.

I haven’t posted since the beginning of 2021. Those of you that hang out with me on Instagram know that my little brother has been missing since the end of 2020. Life just became different for us and it was harder to try to inspire others. You shouldn’t make your life there though. It isn’t healthy. So I am trying new beginnings. He would have wanted that. ❤️ (Whew…some sentences are just harder to type.)

Life is full of possibilities. It’s full of fresh starts and growth. It’s full of things to look forward to and also long moments of contentment in the here and now. Each day to be celebrated for the gift that it is.

I hope that 2023 truly is your year. I hope that you find that one junkin’ find that has been elusive until now! I hope that you paint your dining room the color of an antique crock. (I plan to!) I hope that your sheep have babies! (Ours too!) I hope that whatever your hopes and dreams are…that you give them to God and He covers them with glitter, as only He can. Here’s to new beginnings, my friends!

Hello there, Dirt Roaders! It’s been a minute.  I’m just stopping in to see how everyone is faring during this time. I hope and pray that you are hanging in there.

acs_0394

I feel like that we have been using this time to be more intentional.  We have had a schedule for most days.  All of the kids have homework so we have tried to stay focused with that. More than the homework though I feel like we have grown as a family.  We have utilized our home and farming skills more.

Each day at three we have what we call Driver’s Ed.  We go for dirt road rides and explore.  Most of the roads are well known to us after years of teaching our kids to drive.  After the spring rains though we have discovered so many beautiful creeks.  It’s balm to weary souls during quarantine. We also have lots of Ag class here. There are always farm chores to do and now mowing.  We have Home Economics which consists of house cleaning and cooking.  The kids tell me that having a set schedule helps the days to pass better.  I’m thankful to be able to help them through this.  I feel like God has given us tools to cope and peace through it all.

Are you guys eating take out much?  We have tried to limit that.  I get an ALDI delivery about every two weeks.  We leave them on the porch and wipe them all down with Thieves cleaner before bringing them in.  It’s a whole process…but we just want to keep everyone healthy. We have had drive thru things a time or two.  Mexican take out once and Domino’s once. I cannot lie.  It tasted amazing. lol!

It’s my sincere prayer that this post will encourage you.  I hope that in your time of quarantine that you have grown as a person or a family.  We haven’t taken this lightly. There are so many people hurting and grieving and we are not strangers to that.  At the first of the year we lost my uncle in a tragic accident and were still reeling from that when this hit.  I know that part doesn’t sound very encouraging…but hang on a sec.  The Lord gave us enormous peace and so many miracles through all of that.  That is just the way that He works.

I hope that your are thriving, my friends.  I hope that you are finding a new appreciation for all of the things that you were too rushed to enjoy, before. I hope that each new day inspires you to learn something new or to just pause and breathe in deep.  Maybe you found a new love for your lawn chair or porch swing.  Maybe you have a new ritual of evening tea and a cozy book.  (Dr. Pepper and a cozy book for me. lol!) Whatever you are learning through this…I feel that it will make us better people whenever it’s time to be with people again. I don’t feel that we will take a smile or a handshake for granted.

Let me leave you with this today,

In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 32 verse 27, God says this:

“Behold, I am the Lord God of all flesh: is there anything to hard for me?”

Stay well, Dirt Roaders,

Kelli

God's love, heart and soul, Jesus

I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.

And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me. He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.

He speaks and the sound of His voice, is so sweet that the birds hush their singing. And the melody that He brings to me…within my heart keeps ringing.

May His love bless you today…from your nose to your toes. May you feel Him tell you that you are His own.

Hello guys! How is life treating you? We have been busy! This season of life has us meeting ourselves coming and going…but it’s a good busy…I think. Anyway…thoughts on November today.

1. Cozy. Give me allllll the blankets, good books, crochet, and spiced cider. (1 jug of apple juice, one bag of Red Hots and heat on the stove until melted. You will thank me.)

2. Cheer. Halloween is over for another year and the holiday season has begun. TBH sometimes (a lot) I struggle with all of that. I have sincerely prayed for the Lord to help me with it. He has. I am enjoying it already. It can be so overwhelming…but I want Him to give me the right perspective.

3. Cherish. November is a bit solemn for me. My sweet daddy went to be with Jesus, the week of Thanksgiving, 5 years ago. They say that time heals…and I agree somewhat. If I let my mind go there though…my heart aches…just the same. I choose to cherish. I cherish the memories…mostly of him being our kid’s Poppy. He was so proud of them. That is a gift.

There you have it, Dirt Roaders. A few thoughts on November. It’s a month that smells like pumpkin pie spice…mixed with cedar. It’s a month of gratitude to the One who walks with us all through the year. Now that is something to write home about. 🖤

We have had some warm days lately, how about you? After the freezing temps…I have enjoyed it. Those sunny days seem to help you hold on for the hope of spring, huh?

I don’t mind winter too awful bad…but I do enjoy spring popping up around the corner. More time outside and more fresh air. I am always a little sad to see the cozy season go…but I like the hope of new growth.

Do things seem bleak and wintry for you right now? If they do…hold on. God is not far, far, away. He is right there…and He will help. This morning I was reading about those Hebrew boys in the furnace. The king was amazed that there appeared to be four in there, and one was like as the Son of God. Wow. Hold on friends…and don’t let go. It won’t be winter forever.

Hello sweet Dirt Roaders! How is life treating you? I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and are having a happy start to 2018. Whew! Can you believe it? Time flies!

We have been fighting off sinus germs here. It hasn’t been super fun. It’s also freeeeeeezing cold here in southern Missouri. I guess it is winter though, at least in our neck of the woods.

The Mr. braved the frosty weather and grilled steaks over the holiday. They were really good. A little taste of summer…in the heart of winter.

I found the quote above somewhere on the internet. I think it’s fitting for a blank page, how about you? “where no foot has been before…” God is like that. He beckons us to put down our fear and run to Him, as He guides. What better way to blaze the trail of a new year, than to follow the Leader?

You guys are so good to stop by here when there isn’t even new stuff to read. My Dirt Roaders are full of mercy and grace. Don’t let anyone tell ya any different.

I am diffusing a bit of lemon and grapefruit today. The washer is chuggin’ away, doing it’s thing. I have so much laundry you guys. I have been sick with some sort of cold/flu thing and you know how that goes. My family is good to dish out the mercy and grace though. I am thankful for that.

My sweet MIL sent a cozy throw my way. Talk about grace. I’m not even keeping up on her son’s laundry and she sent me a prizey…as we call them. Isn’t it gorgeous? BHG at your local Walmart. She bought my SIL one too. We are a bit spoiled. A little more mercy and grace.

I saw this online somewhere recently. Are we guilty of not giving our bodies mercy and grace? Sure we are. How can we accept others, pass mercy and grace onto them, we we don’t even give it to ourselves? I want to do better about that.

I’m gonna leave you with this last little tidbit. The Bible talks about God loving us, like a mother with her nursing infant. That kind of love…is full to the brim with mercy and grace, isn’t it? Why do we sometimes, as believers, give into the idea that He doesn’t feel that way towards us? I know why. We believe the lies that the enemy whispers. We shouldn’t. God’s plans are for our good. He is the Master…of mercy and grace.

family, heart and soul, memorial day

First of all…let me start off to say that here at the Farmhouse we are very thankful to those that have and do serve our country.  We also remember our loved ones that have gone to be with Jesus over this weekend. Memorial Day is more than a party to me…yet it is a sweet time to treasure family also. Can you tell how good the Internet is at shaming? That was a long disclaimer. Lol! Whew…

We started off this weekend having supper with some friends.  So much fun! We also got to keep our baby nephew and he is all things wonderful. Then we hung out with my brother and his little family for a while.  They are so crazy and funny. We love them to pieces! Today was fairly chill (relaxing and calm)…a fun trip to town with the girls, a little family reunion food prep, swimming, and homemade pizzas. They were even gluten free. I need to crawl back on that wagon. Speaking of things in that direction…wish me luck fellow Fibro managers. I am hoping that the swimming helps. I plan to do as much as possible this summer.

So…our holiday weekend has been relaxing so far. I eased away from our tribe for some quiet moments.  Moments of reflection. In other words…I am counting my blessings.  May you all do the same.

Love from our dirt road to yours,

Kelli

Time to Heal

heart and soul

If you follow along on Istagram, then you already know what has been going on in our world.  Our church had to let go of our precious pastor, of 25 years, so that he could really begin to live.  One of these days, I will write a loving tribute to him from our family…but first I need a little time to heal.

I am asking, at this time, that you hold his precious wife up in prayer.  She is amazing, and strong, but she needs the comfort that only Jesus can bring.  She needs time to heal.

I also ask that you hold our congregation up in prayer.  They are salt of the earth folks with great big hearts. Great big hearts are easily broken…and yes…they need time to heal.

This morning in my quiet time I was reading in Psalms about how the Lord lifts our head and sustains us. My battered heart cannot help but look up in hope…when I read those words.

Brother Hight…your healing is now eternal. It was instant and we rejoice in that. Ours though…will take a bit of time.

Thank you for your prayers,

Kelli
