Hey Guys!  How are you?  It’s been forever and a day…but today…I am back in the saddle again.  I appreciate those of you that continue to stop by to see if I have posted.  That warms my heart. My posts have been a bit spotty over the last several months, as I have concentrated on my health, but I do still love blogging.  Life has a way of bumping us up out of the saddle.  We have to be careful how we land. For those of you that don’t know…my Chiro calls it Fibromyalgia, and Doc calls in nerve related pain.  Whatever you label it…it’s not fun. That being said…life goes on and we have to roll with it. I’m learning to roll…in all of that time that I’m not blogging. *Winky face. Sooooo enough of that…let’s get this party started, shall we?

img_4721

I was slow about getting my fall decor out this year.  It was a very warm, humid, and summery September.  It just didn’t feel like pumpkin spice weather…no matter what Starbucks said. (btw:  We don’t have a Starbucks here…but I do love the PSL at McDonald’s once in a while.) Anyway…it finally cooled off and then warmed back up again. Typical Southern Missouri weather.  I did get out the fall stuff, some of it anyway. We visited the pumpkin patch, (So fun!) and we have been enjoying this cozy time of year. The little pumpkin lights above are so fun.  I found those at Big Lots and I love to turn them on of the evening, while we are all in the family room.  I brought the pine cones up out of the storage room too.  I just love pine cones in our home. So cozy…when you have grown up with pine trees, big and tall, in your front yard.

Okay….so this beauty above. My friend Shannon…found her at a sale the other day.  I’m pretty sure that this little wash stand has been living in someone’s barn.  Shanny called and said “Hey…do you want this?  I already asked my hubby and he said “no.”  lol!  She is a mess…and she knows me very well. At fifteen dollars…I caved.  The Mr. and my mom helped me spiff her up a little on Saturday.  We (he) had to evacuate a spider or two. Gag! Now she sits in the hallway of the Farmhouse in all of her white chippy glory…holding our radio, a lamp, and some twinkle lights in a ball jar. Oh, and also a white pumpkin that the Mr. picked up for me at the grocerystore. ❤  She is perfect.

Now…about that mantle. I have been wanting to do this forever. I have seen this idea on Pinterest…and at Magnolia. (Not in person…although I do have family close to Waco.) Sooo…on Columbus Day…the Mr. and I had an adventure.  We hunted high and low on our place for logs to use in this project.  We came up dry…so Shanny to the rescue again. We dug through their wood pile, then she used her dad’s chop saw. (Now the Mr. has chop saw on his Christmas List.) At this point it needs a few more slices and I am also tucking faux moss between the pieces.  I will show you the finished result. I love it.  It adds lots of coziness to our mantle and our family room.

Then there is this little gem.  I went to a Vintage Junk Trunk show in our town and came home with this little table. I wasn’t sure where to put it…but it’s so  cozy in our kitchen. I’m not big on clutter…and when new things come in I try to take old things out…so we shall see how it goes.  For now though…I love it here. I am told that it’s a little map table. It has folding legs.  Super sweet!

I finally filled my wash tubs with pumpkins.  They actually came from ALDI.  They have such good prices on their pumpkins there…that you can’t hardly beat it. Anyway…it’s sure good to visit with you guys again.  I hope that Jesus is blessing your autumn…from your nose to your toes!

It’s here! Are we excited?  You bet your pumpkin muffins we are! Today, my mom bought us a cozy throw and some Pumpkin Spice Celestial Seasonings tea. I am armed for pumpkin season.

On a farm it’s always exciting to spend time outside when it cools off.  I can’t wait for a bit of cooler weather for fresh pumpkins on our porch. I actually bought some discounted throw pillows for the porch swing today. A gray and white Moroccan print. Supah cute for fall and winter. Eeeeeeep!

I hope that you are as excited as we are!

fall, farmhouse style, tuesday

Hey everyone! Are we runnin’ full steam ahead after the long weekend? I have things going around here…pretty much. It does feel like a Monday though.

Did everyone have a good holiday? We did. We decided at the last minute to have a little weekend get-away. It was fun! Yesterday though…we just kicked back a bit. That is always nice too.

I hit a couple of different Targets while I was in a town or two that actually had one. I had seen some things on Instagram that I was interested in picking up. They were fresh out of the checked throw pillows that I was after…but I picked up some cloth napkins…and may actually make them into window treatments. Fun…fun!

Are you guys starting to decorate for fall? I’m not just yet…but maybe soon!

Have a great evening!

braided rugs, cowhide, farmhouse style, rugs

You guys!!! How have you been? Has your August been as busy as ours? Ca.Ray.Zee. Today I’m gonna talk a bit about rugs galore okay? Okay!

I am totally in love with this new rug in our entry. Sometimes I buy new things and they have to grow on me. They have to woo my standoffish heart. Not so in this case. It’s crazy…this is the first braided farmhouse rug that we have had at the Farmhouse. What is the dealeo? 😉 Anyway…we are all loving this one. It came from a local shop and was a great deal!!!

(I just threw a little mantle love in there for fun.)

Theeeeeen…on my birthday…I finally got my cowhide that I have been dreaming of. We love it!!! It smells so good too. Leather is my favorite scent. (Sorry bovine population.) I  also love the bit of flair that it adds to our dining room. This is probably my favorite flea market find…ever. (Thank you Mister of mine and parents!!!)

Well…that is my rug rambling! Leave me a comment and tell me all about your summer finds!!! I loooooove to read your comments.

House Plant Happiness

farmhouse style, happiness, house plant

A few years ago…if you would have told me that I would have a myriad of house plants…I probably would have wrinkled my nose. You know, like years ago, during the silk greenery movement. What was my problem?  I grew up through the 80’s so we all know that I was surrounded by house plant happiness.

I think that was the thing. I grew up during macrame plant hanger fame and house plants vining around the room. By the way, the plant hangers are all the rage again. I don’t have any…but I do have a plant vining on the piano.

I tend to keep my house plants in tidy pots. Usually they are in something other than just a flower pot. A crock, a vintage ice cream maker, or an olive bucket. The aloe is in a pretty ceramic pot. They give me plenty of house plant happiness though…and have for years now. Matter of fact…the first house plant that I had here at the farm was a little prayer plant from our son. So sweet!  He brought it home to me from Sunday School.

I still have some faux greenery…I mean who can turn their nose up at a fun topiary?  That being said…don’t sell yourself short by rejecting a happy little house plant. They really brighten your home.

Happy Potting!

The Mason Jars of Summer

I might have been the last to know. Did you know?  You know…that Wal-Mart was carrying quart sized, AQUA, Ball jars this year?  They will definitely be the Mason jars of summer at our house this year.

They come in a pack of four. I needed eight. Lol! Needed… might not be the word. Truth be told…I am a bit jar crazy. (My Mister understands this about me…and lovingly tolerates my ways.) We have used Mason jars for drinking glasses for years now. Nothing better in my opinion. (Each to his own.) It all started with Longaberger canning jars and snowballed.

They are also carrying little pints. Maybe another size too…I can’t remember for sure.  Anyway…they are fun, and summeresque, and if you get tired of drinking out of them…can something. 😉

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend!

p.s. I thought you might like to see the little light in our kitchen.

BHG and Relaxation

Last night when I went to bed…I gathered up a few relaxation items. Okay…technically there was Coca-Cola in the Yeti…so…anyway. (A rare treat these days. 😉) I wasn’t long into the magazine though and I was already inspired. BHG is one of the magazines, that I get, that still thrills me…in this world of so much online decorating eye candy. I really enjoy it.

I love that the style and projects are realistic. The recipes are too. I also enjoy having a real, live, article in my grasp that I can actually file away for later. As in…real life.  Yes…I love Pinterest as much as the next girl…but I am a book worm at heart.

Anyway…during my “relaxing” BHG totally inspired me to dress our yellow couch for summer. As I stated on IG…don’t worry…these pillows are to be used or chucked to the floor if necessary. We don’t have a lot around here that isn’t to be used. I think that is a good thing.

Love from the Farmhouse,

Kelli

Little Bits of Kitchen

farmhouse style, heart of the home, kitchen, life

Good morning, good morning!  How is everyone today?  We are definitely trying to hang in there.  I thought that I would share a few…little bits of kitchen with you today.  Everyone always calls the kitchen the heart of the home.  I would have to agree with that.  People usually seem to gravitate to that room at the Farmhouse too.  I love that.

Do you all have a coffee station.  It’s a pretty important part of our kitchen…let me tell ya!  Our Keurig was on the blink the other day…and everyone was a bit bummed.  (Especially since we had just gotten it in December.)  Thankfully we ran some cleaner through it and it works again.  It’s such a cozy spot in our kitchen though. I love to make coffee, but also my Sleepytime tea in this little spot.  Very cozy, in the evenings.

I’m sure that if you follow along on Instagram, you have seen this little piggy trencher.  The first place that I ever saw a little pig like this was either on Edie Wadsworth’s blog or Instagram.  She keeps salt in hers and it is adorable.  I think this one is a bit bigger.  I just put my salt crock inside.  It’s truly a delight in our kitchen.

Do you guys remember the plate rack turned cook book rack?  I loved my plate rack…but I really enjoy all of the these cookbooks being out in the open.  I know…that you know…that the kitchen can be pretty too.  It’s such a workhorse in our homes at times though…that we overlook some areas.  Don’t do that! 😉  Make every area of your kitchen enjoyable to look at or live in.  I promise you…it will be worth the effort and you will enjoy your time in there so much more.

I hope that you guys have enjoyed the little bits of kitchen that I have shared today.  I love this early morning shot.  (Ignore the Sherwin Williams paint bucket/egg bucket. Keeping it real.) I also hope that you all have a wonderful Tuesday.  Remember…life is what your make it.  You get to choose.

Love from the dirt road,

Sigturquoise
