Farmhousey. Such a made up word.
It truly describes what I love.
Farmhouse style is cozy. See? Farmhousey.
(I am on meds for the crud. Ignore me.)
It’s funny. Even though I have tried different styles at different times, farmhouse style has always been the one that I truly loved. It just seems timeless and I love that, in this ever-changing world. I love it’s sturdiness and stability. I love it’s faded vintage sheets and hand stitched quilts and I love the smell of good things cooking in the Farmhouse kitchen.
Do you love “farmhousey” too? What is your favorite style? My inquiring mind wants to know.
Dreaming of line-dried clothes…
Line-dried clothes…well, we still have that at my house. 🙂 My style is somewhat chaotic.. I love the cabin style, the big sturdy furniture. Just seems to give you a great big bear hug when you sit in a overstuffed chair. However, I love the modern, colorful and monochromatic vibes. That does something for my designer’s soul. I’m thinking in my cabin I’ll have a mix of both. Chrome finishes, maybe car siding, throw in some wild colors and patterns, and spruce it up with green, growing things…just not moss or penicillin. lol
B. That will be so exciting. I think that an eclectic mix is a good thing. We have a bit of that going on. It keeps things interesting. 🙂 ~k.
Yes! I am Farmhousey all the way. I’m trying to rid my home of things I don’t love, and replace them with things I do. So my little 2007-built duplex in the suburbs is slowly getting as much character as my husband will allow (I’m still not allowed to paint the cabinets, or plank the kitchen ceiling)
Jo… I totally agree with that. I try to do that too. I try my best to keep the things that matter the most and the things that make me happy to look at. If I don’t love it…why look at it? That sounds like fun. (Fingers crossed for painting and planking.) lol! ~k.
I think something catastrophic would have to happen for me to finally be able to paint and plank 😉 In the meantime, I’ve added faux diamond panes to my big picture window, and a distressed white shelf full of pitchers, and a big farm table.
Jo…That sounds lovely! I will have to check that out! ~k.
I love the farmhouse style, but I also love the rustic/hunting lodge too. I love your twist on it also.
Shannon… I think that the main thing is to be true to yourself and what YOU love. That is when you will be the happiest with your decor. Thanks for the kind words. 🙂 ~k.
