You love me…you really love me.

My life is still in a spin.  Do you ever have weeks like that?  I’m sure that you do.  Most times…all of  the crazy in life comes in batches.  Maybe the good Lord knows that we need major down time…most of the time.

SONY DSC

The thing is…even though my blogging has been suffering and limping along….you, my Sweet Dirt Roaders…continue to visit.  I feel honored that you would read my babbles.  I have had no DIY projects to offer you.  I have had a limited supply of junkin’ finds or much else too totally inspiring…and yet you keep coming by.  I appreciate you….and you…and you over there too.

SONY DSC

My sweet daughter went junkin’ today with her friend and her friend’s Grammy.  She bought a prizey for me that I cannot wait to show you.  I want to wait until I get my big camera out…instead of just snapping pics with my phone.  You have been so patient…during this time…that you deserve a little more creativity than that.

pansies

My one request for you, Dirt Road Friends, is that you hold our family up in prayer.  God’s grace is sufficient in times like these and I told the Mr. today that “When Jesus is right beside us…we can lay our heads on His shoulder and He makes it all better.”  I am thankful for that…and I’m also thankful that you love me…you really love me.  😉

SONY DSC

Love…from our dirt road….to yours,

Sigturquoise

p.s. If you drive by the Farmhouse and see lights at all hours…it might be me cleaning.  My routine has gotten bumped to the side.  Oh well…you gotta “roll with it.”  😉

The dog days…..

Is it warm where you are?  Are you feeling parched and dry?

wpid-IMG_20130626_091005.jpg

Maybe you have had more rain than normal…and you are ready for sunshine…if it’s going to be summer.

wpid-IMG_20130627_174215.jpg

Wherever you are….your Father knows exactly what you have need of.  I am so thankful for that.  Did you know that God thinks that YOU are awesome?  I ask our kid’s at church that question all the time.  Then I ask them to repeat after me….”God thinks that I’m awesome.”  You should see the smiles on their faces.

SONY DSC

Maybe you are in the Dog Days of summer….or in the Dog Days of life.  I just wanted you to know that Someone cares about you.  He cares about me.  He has our best interest at heart.

SONY DSC

Have a wonderful Wednesday afternoon, Dirt Roaders.  Sending love…from our dirt road to yours.

You are so patient….Dirt Roaders.

Just wanted to let you know that in the middle of all of the crazy that is called “our life” right now….that I am still here.

SONY DSC

Truth is….my PawPaw has been in the hospital…and we have some other family members that are on Hospice…so things have been a bit touch and go.

SONY DSC

Prayers for our neck of the dirt road are so appreciated.  We shall return to your regularly scheduled program…shortly.

SONY DSC

Thank you, my patient Dirt Roaders.  Happy Tuesday evening to you.

Celebrating America!

I am thankful for freedom. I am thankful for freedom in Christ and freedom in this country.  When I think about others that do not have these freedoms…it doesn’t make me feel prideful…I feel humbled.

SONY DSC

When I think about the men and women that have and are sacrificing for us….and for our children…thankfulness wells up within my heart.

SONY DSC

When I think about the burden that our forefathers carried so that we could be free…I am amazed.  When I hear the lyrics “and the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air…gave proof through the night….that our flag was still there,” I feel a patriotic pride and a gratitude that I cannot explain.

SONY DSC

I would love to be one of those people that walk up to our servicemen and women and tell them thank you.  You want to know why I don’t?  Because when I think about it….I feel sobs threatening to emerge.  I don’t just see them…and their service to their country…but I see their wives and husbands and children that also join in on their sacrifice.  Instead…I give them the biggest (probably watery) smile that I can.  I don’t ever want them to feel that I don’t appreciate them.  I do.

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

I hope that you have a wonderful July 4th, Dirt Roaders.  I hope that you pause a minute or several to think about how blessed that we are to live in a free country.  We are blessed beyond measure.  That makes me want to give and give and give.  I plan on enjoying my family today…I hope that you do to!

SONY DSC

May God continue to bless America….land of the free…and the home of the brave!

Sigturquoise

p.s. Thank you for being patient with me…while I updated some things and worked on the blog.  I’m so glad to be back.  It gave me a couple of days to ponder my love of blogging…and to get out of my rut.  😉  Let’s do this “thang.”

Summertime!

It’s here! Are you ready? At this moment…there is a guy in our back yard digging a hole for our new…old…swimming pool. Did I lose you on that one? We purchased it used. Yes…now it makes sense. It seems appropriate though, on the first day of summer.

image

Do you have lots of plans for this summer? We are actually having a little staycation this week.  Do you love those?  I do.  I love having time to just enjoy being together.  Our kids are little hermits…so they do well with it.  (Okay…they really aren’t hermits…but staying at home doesn’t bother them.  I love that.)

SONY DSC

Last night, around dusk, we went out on the porch and just…enjoyed.  We sang several songs.  It was so fun.  I wondered if our neighbors could hear us.  Sound carries through these Ozark hills.  If they did…they heard us lifting praises up to our Lord.  That thought, makes me happy.

Whatever you do this summer, Dirt Roaders, I suggest that you take time to just “be still.”  It’s a therapy like no other.  It’s in these times that we are still…that we hear that precious, still small Voice.

SONY DSC

Three Smiles for Summer!  🙂 🙂 🙂

I don’t always post each day. I know. You knew that.

SONY DSC

Truth is…sometimes I just have to live the life that you see in the pictures.

SONY DSC

I miss you when I’m gone though. I love to try to inspire you with beautiful things.

SONY DSC

I love to remind all of us about the grace of God and how beautiful this world is that He made.

SONY DSC

So…today…nothing close to rocket science. Just some beauty that you have probably seen before. It’s to tide you over until my next post…just in case you are waiting. If you are…bless your soul…thank you for riding along on this dirt road journey with us.

Smiles!

A Day Away

14 Friday Jun 2013

Do you ever just need a day away?  Life can be crazy.  Of course we all need some time to relax and regroup.

image

Time with your little family unit is priceless.  It’s a blessing from above. (Don’t ask us what our son is doing.  He doesn’t even know.) 😉

image

Sometimes on the way…..you get bored and play with your phone.

image

This was the first time in the history of our little family…..that everyone was tall enough to ride…everything.  How exciting!

image

Um…yeah.  You invest your life…keeping these kids alive, by the grace of God, and they ride stuff like this.  That would be my husband and little son in the second row.  This is Outlaw Run.  If you don’t know anything about it…..Google.  I was on the observation deck….um praying.  God answers prayer.  They stayed on the track and our little guy even has the t-shirt to prove it.

image

The girls and I needed some fruit and veggies.  We also needed a funnel cake.  We must have eaten it too fast to photograph.  😉

image

I have realized that I have aged since the last time that I was here.

image

Okay….so I am having a hard time flipping the squirrel while posting on my phone….so kindly flip your head.  😉  Thanks!  Oh to be a squirrel at a theme park!  They almost act tame.  It was crazy.

image

Our chickens would have been impressed.  😉

image

image

(The two pics above are from our “road-trippin” food.  Of course the first was from McD’s and when I posted the picture on Instagram….my friend Jodi answered the question with…”Real.”  😉  I said “exactly.”  Freddy’s was wonderful.  It was sooooo good.  Maybe I was just super hungry. We had snacked all day…but hadn’t had a meal since breakfast.  We will definitely add them to our favorites list!)

We stopped at Target on the way out of Branson.  It’s so sad.  We don’t have one in our little town.  I asked the Mr. if he was glad…and he said yes.  😉  He knows his bride…of all these years, very well.  Anyway…GUESS WHAT! (Yes…I’m yelling!)  I’M FINALLY A MEMBER OF THE PRETTY PAPER STRAW CLUB!  Isn’t that great?  I also found a rug that I had looked for, before, for our kitchen….ON CLEARANCE!  Woo hoo!  Then at TJ MAXX I found some pretties too!  If you follow me on Instagram….check it out…today!

It was all wonderful!  I feel very blessed.  A big “thank you” and “Happy Birthday” to my Mr.  I love you…and I am blessed beyond measure to be the momma in your little tribe.

(Oh and please forgive my backseat driving. 😉 )

Smiles!

My internet is down today…..out on the dirt road….but I didn’t want to leave you too long….my Dirt Roaders.  Today…I am posting from my phone.  That is a first for me.  We shall see how it goes.  I might try it tomorrow too…because we are going on an adventure.  Wanna go?  Okay.  😉

Yesterday….I had the most wonderful surprise.  The girls above came and visited and spent the afternoon with us.  We are long time friends but they both live in different places and had never been….out to the Farmhouse.  It was wonderful!  God is good….to send us these little prizeys!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Smiles!

A little junkin’…just for you.

Hey Sweet Dirt Roaders! I have been a tad out of pocket.  I didn’t forget you though…I’ve just been busy.  As promised…I did take a little time out for junkin’.  Yeah…I know…it’s a heavy cross to bear, but someone has to do it.  (winky-winky)

SONY DSC

So…today was kind of a date day for the Mr. and I.  He had an appointment in a little neighboring town and much to my delight, there is a wonderful store there.  A honey-hole of sorts.  It makes a trip to the “back cracker” feel like a holiday.

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

The little store that we visited is a junker’s paradise.  There is stuff everywhere.  It’s the little store that I have told you about before that used to be a hotel in the 1800’s.  It’s so old that the floors are crooked.  I love it.  They even have stuff stacked in a  tiny kitchen.  That is where I found the canisters.  They have been well loved and there are only two…and one is missing the lid but they whispered to me.  ” Fraulein…fraulein….please take us home with you.”  (They were made in Germany.)

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

I can imagine these canisters in a sweet farmhouse kitchen.  Can’t you just see a little woman making soup and needing a scoop of barley?  I wonder what happened when she broke the lid?  Maybe she cried.  Maybe she was kind of like me and realized that stuff is not as important as the feelings of the people that break things.

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

When I first spotted the canisters and their adorable little feet…(so adorable)…my husband pointed out that the one remaining lid was cracked.  I didn’t care.  I knew that they were perfect for me and I…for them.  I told my husband, in the little kitchen…in that ancient hotel…that I am all about grace.  Things that have been broken…can still be useful.  I love that.  I have been broken…and Someone still sees value in me. I am amazed…by His grace.

SONY DSC

Have a great weekend!  I’m gonna decide what goes out…because I brought something “new” in.  Clutter and I don’t jive.  It overwhelms me.  I have to have a balance or I start threatening to throw stuff out in the yard.  I know…I know…therapy would be useful.  Party on…Dirt Roaders!

Kelli

Welcome to our stretch of the dirt road! It is filled with junkin' trips, culinary experiments and anything to "fluff the nest" which is our farmhouse. I love home decor that fits my family. I love a simplicity that we can live in. Maybe that is why the country life is so appealing to us. It's a place to breathe deep...and enjoy the journey. Join us! We would love to have you. (You might even see a chicken or two.)
