Do you guys have a favorite room to decorate and to buy things for. I do. Can you guess which one that it is? I’m sure that this isn’t hard.
Yes. It’s our kitchen. I love to go junking and find vintage kitchen “things.” Now, that being said, I don’t enjoy clutter…so when you come to my house it’s not unusual for you to leave with something…because I like to keep my treasures at a minimum.
My newest love is the blue and white Currier & Ives dishes. For years I have had a few blue and white pieces…but the Currier and Ives were made with a blue that captures my heart. It’s a little more on the side of navy and a little shy from purple. Does that make sense? Of course it does. My Dirt Roaders are smart.
What is it about blue that makes my heart sing? It has always been my favorite. Isn’t that a fun thing to know about yourself? It’s always a little sad to me when someone says that they don’t know their favorite color. I have several that I love (that is the creative in me) but I could answer “blue” without hesitation.
For years I didn’t really decorate with blue. Isn’t that crazy? It wasn’t super-trendy for a while. Shame on me. I say that because of this one reason: I have never been happier with my junking finds and my decor…than I am now. I guess that I just needed to hone in on what I really loved and let the rest go. This is a good place to be. Sometimes…I think that it comes with age. Eeeeeeek! lol! Did I just admit that? Please pass the Oil of Olay.
I know that I have asked you all a dozen times if you follow Miss Mustard Seed. I love her blog. I think that it was one of those moments…where you just happen upon someone that has similar tastes and you hear angels singing. Okay…not really..but her style is amazing to me. It’s such a mix of farmhouse style and elegance. I love that. Plus…it’s full of BLUE! 😉 Heavenly. (The baker’s twine that is wrapped around my butter paddle…that was inspired by her photos. I always want to give credit, where credit is due.)
I hope that your day is lovely…after all…it’s Thursday! My favorite! If you have a minute…leave me a comment! I love to hear from you. Tell me your favorite room to decorate and go junkin’ for. I really wanna know!
Living kinda cray-cray after all of these snow days,
Hmm… you guys’ red room is my favorite. Just sayin…lol. Oh, and Thursdays and blue are my favorites, too. So, you’re in good company. 🙂
B. We get that a lot from different folks. 🙂 Yes…yes…good company. 🙂 ~k.
Wow… I grew up with all our Holiday dinners served on the Blue Currier and Ives china. My sweet Momma gave me the whole setting for 16. My antique Hutch is filled with the precious treasures. Always picking up some extras on my thrifting trips.
I vote Blue too, with a side of yellow….
Sis. B. Ahhh….kindred spirits…in so many ways. That sounds lovely. ~k.
Yes , my laundry room. I am always buying soap and fabric softener. Every one leaves with clean smelling laundry 🙂 but seriously I guess I would have to say my living room. Always looking for a new picture frame or something to display collage photos. I think that’s neat that you give a little something to folks as they come and go from your home. Some day I hope to go piddle around in a flea market , never been .
Carol…I understand about the laundry room. I spend lots of time there too. I need to head there right now…to stay caught up. 🙂 Come and see me sometime and I will send you home with something and yes…you must visit a junk store. So much fun! ~k.
Kelli…Blue has always, without a doubt, been my favorite color too! I adore your blue currier & ivey dishes!
Crystal…I have heard that it means that we are loyal. I would like to think so. 🙂 Thank you so much. They are so fun to find here and there. ~k.
